The number of visitors to Hong Kong from January to November 2025 has reached a new high!

Recently, Hong Kong's tourism sector has received significant positive news: from January to November 2025, the total number of visitors to Hong Kong has successfully surpassed 45 million. This achievement not only exceeds the 40 million visitor total for the entire year of 2024 one month ahead of schedule but also demonstrates robust recovery and growth momentum. Notably, November alone saw 4.2 million visitors, marking a 17% year-on-year increase and setting a new monthly record. This achievement injects robust confidence into the year-end performance of Hong Kong's tourism sector.

Alongside this substantial rise in visitor numbers, the trend towards a more balanced and upgraded visitor source structure in Hong Kong's tourism sector is equally noteworthy. Data indicates that from January to November 2025, Mainland Chinese visitors reached 34.5 million, accounting for 77% of total arrivals and remaining the core pillar of Hong Kong's tourism market. Concurrently, non-mainland markets demonstrated more vigorous growth momentum, emerging as key drivers of visitor growth. The six major source markets—Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, China, Macau, China, the United States, and Europe—collectively contributed 10.5 million visitors, representing a 16% year-on-year increase. The return of long-haul, high-end travellers was particularly pronounced.

Industry analysts note that the sustained rise in visitor numbers and the optimisation of the visitor structure stem partly from the continuous improvement of Hong Kong's transport networks with mainland China and the wider world, alongside the streamlining of border clearance policies. Equally crucial are Hong Kong's recent efforts in tourism product innovation, the integration of cultural and tourism development, and the enhancement of premium services.
