On 19 December 2025, the inaugural Hong Kong International AI Art Festival officially commenced at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Under the theme ‘Envisioning the Future: Reality and Boundlessness’.

This arts festival brings together the world's foremost technological and artistic talents, crafting a sensory feast that transcends the boundaries between reality and virtuality through immersive exhibitions, interactive experiences and cutting-edge forums. It represents a pivotal stride forward in Hong Kong's development as both an international hub for innovation and technology and a centre for cultural and artistic exchange between East and West.

Organised by Bauhinia Culture Group, this edition attracted participation from 30 artists and over 30 robotics enterprises across more than 10 countries and regions. Over 40 AI artworks and 100 distinctive robots were showcased, comprehensively demonstrating innovative practices where artificial intelligence empowers art and integrates into daily life. Breaking conventional exhibition boundaries, the event adopted the philosophy ‘exhibition as city, city as stage’. It featured four core sections: a fully immersive AI art exhibition, a robotics carnival, an AI science week, and multiple cutting-edge forums. This approach brought tech-art beyond exhibition halls, deeply integrating it with Hong Kong's urban landscape.

Among the core activities, the immersive AI art exhibition stood out as a highlight. Employing cutting-edge technologies such as algorithmic generation, visual interaction, and sound simulation, it created an ‘experiment in intelligent civilisation.’ Visitors traversed the exhibition, personally experiencing the unique charm born from the collision of technology and art, and navigating seamless transitions between reality and virtuality. Meanwhile, the world's first robot carnival centred on artistic storytelling revolutionises traditional exhibition formats, transforming robots from static exhibits into active participants. Through robot fashion shows, chess matches, and arena challenges, it constructs a vibrant ‘living scenario universe.’ This draws crowds of visitors, particularly young people, who engage directly with cutting-edge technology through interactive experiences.

For academic and industrial exchange, the festival hosts several heavyweight industry figures. Turing Award laureate John Edward Hopcroft and foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Zhang Jianwei, among other leading experts, delivered keynote speeches on cutting-edge topics including ‘AI and Education,’ ‘Human-Machine Collaborative Art,’ and ‘The Convergence of Technology and Culture.’ These presentations delved into the application boundaries and developmental prospects of AI technology within the cultural and artistic domains, offering forward-thinking perspectives for industry advancement.
